WOODLAND – A suspect has been named in the murder of a Woodland woman near here last night (Wednesday).

The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office said that Keith Hyman – age and address unknown – is wanted for first degree murder and attempted murder after two women were shot at a residence located in Arrowhead Mobile Home Park, off NC 35 north of Woodland.

Northampton Sheriff’s Captain Patrick Jacobs said Hyman was last seen in a gray Ford passenger car. At that time he was wearing all camouflaged clothing (cap, shirt, and pants).

Jacobs said Hyman is known to frequent the Woodland area as well as Bertie County.

The murder victim is identified as 34-year-old Angelec Wiggins of Woodland. Upon the arrival of Northampton deputies to the mobile home park shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, they discovered Wiggins had sustained gunshot wounds to the body resulting in her death outside the residence.

Jacobs said there was an additional female at the same location who was also injured by gunshot wounds to the body.

“She is in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital. Her name and information will not be released at this time,” Jacobs said.

Just prior to the shooting, Jacobs stated there was a verbal dispute between Hyman and at least one of the two women.

Those with information on Hyman’s whereabouts can call the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office at 252-534-2611 or Crime Stoppers at 252-534-1110. Any and all information will be kept confidential.

Jacobs cautioned that Hyman is considered armed and dangerous.
