AHOSKIE – The driver and passenger of a vehicle being chased today (Tuesday) by local law enforcement agencies are on the run.

The chase, which began shortly past 1 p.m. and covered main highways and secondary roads in Hertford and Bertie counties, reportedly began in Hertford County. The suspect vehicle then turned off US 13, south of Powellsville in Bertie County, onto Hexlena Road. It then turned right onto Early Station Road, eventually making its way through the Center Grove community and back into Hertford County, where the vehicle came to a stop on a dead end road in the Poortown community where the duo fled on foot.

The identities of the driver and passenger were not immediately made available.

The cause of the chase is believed to be drug related.
