AHOSKIE – Roy Douglas Barnes, age 76, of Center Grove Road, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Barnes was born on April 30, 1944 to Clarence Albert Barnes, Sr. and Margaret Askew Barnes in Bertie County, NC. Roy worked as a Health Inspector for Hertford County Health Department for many years and will be missed by his family and friends.

Along with his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his siblings, Clarence Albert Barnes, Jr., Delores B. Jewett, Judy B. Jones, Florence B. Powell, Danny Barnes, Robert D. Barnes, and W. Ralph Barnes.

Roy is survived by a sister, Darlene Castelloe and husband Gary of Windsor; brother, Philip Barnes of Suffolk, VA; and nephew and caregiver, Brent Barnes of Ahoskie, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Stoney Creek Cemetery, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Roger Kiker officiating.
