AHOSKIE – Carolyn Hill Edwards, age 78, passed away on February 20, 2021 at the Vidant Bertie Hospital of Windsor, NC.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Bertie County, NC, on September 11, 1942, a daughter of the late Rudolph and Virgie Lassiter Hill. Carolyn worked as an Administrative Assistant for Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital until her retirement. Carolyn enjoyed cooking, especially for family gatherings, because above all she loved her family. She enjoyed listening to the music and ministry of Jimmy Swaggert, using them as her spiritual guidance when she was unable to go to church at Carpenters Shop. His ministry probably reminded her of her younger years, when Carolyn and her sister, Diane enjoyed singing in a quartet in numerous churches in the area.

Besides her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, Whit Roy Edwards, Jr.; and son, Jeff Edwards, Sr.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Sheila L. Burgess and husband, Jamie of Charleston, SC; five grandsons, Jeff Edwards Jr. and wife, Emily and Joey Edwards and wife, Victoria of Ahoskie, NC, Austin Hoggard and Cole Hoggard of Seaboard, NC, and Hunter Burgess of Charleston, SC; a granddaughter, Brylee Burgess of Charleston, SC; two great granddaughters, Hayden Edwards and Shelby Edwards of Ahoskie, NC; a great grandson, Dallas Edwards of Ahoskie, NC; her sister, Diane H. Lassiter and husband, Donald of Aulander, NC; and her brother, Donald Hill and wife, Betty Ruth of Rocky Mount, NC.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 12:30-2 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with the celebration of life service to be held at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, with Rev.
