RICH SQUARE – Ernest Stanton Rawls, age 87, of Rich Square, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 8, 2021 at the Rich Square Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Rawls was born in Northampton County on September 27, 1933 in George, NC to the late Ernest and Estelle Rawls. He was a long time faithful and dedicated member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Aulander, NC.

Stanton loved the Lord and his family and friends dearly. He enjoyed family gatherings as well as vacationing with them. He often reminisced by sharing stories of places they visited together.

Stanton began working at Parker Casket Manufacturing Company in George, NC at an early age and remained there until he retired.

Besides his parents, Stanton’s two sisters, Viola Rawls Glover and Joyce Rawls Williams preceded him in death. His two brothers-in-law, David Glover and Roger Williams preceded him in death as well, whom he loved like brothers. Stanton was the last surviving member of his family. Left to cherish his memory is his church family and friends.

A celebration of life funeral service and committal will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Garrett~Sykes Funeral Service – Rich Square Chapel, Rich Square, NC, with Pastor Mickey Willard officiating.
