CORAPEAKE, NC – Mary Celia Harrell Piland, 71, of 605 Kellogg Fork Road, Corapeake, died Monday, January 25, 2021 in Gates House Assisting Living.

Mrs. Piland was born in Northampton County on June 16, 1949, and was the daughter of the late Gordon and Beulah Pledger Harrell. A homemaker, she had formerly worked at Buckland Elementary School in the cafeteria.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on December 6, 2020 by her husband, H. Calvin Piland; and by brothers, Raleigh, Talmadge, Gene, and Daniel Harrell.

Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Piland Matthews (husband, Robert) of Elizabeth City; her son, William Calvin “Billy” Piland (wife Dawn) of White Lake; her brother, Chester Harrell of Suffolk, VA; four grandsons, Robert Wayne Matthews, Jr., Nolan Chase Matthews, William Jared Piland, and Ayden Michael Piland; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned.

Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
