Lady Eagles fall to Pungo Academy

LASKER – Pungo Academy built a nine-point halftime lead (19-10) and went on to defeat Northeast Academy, 46-29 here Friday night in a varsity girls basketball game.

Emalee Jones led the Lady Eagles with 12 points. Jessie Martin (9), Allie Liverman (5) and Sarah Kate Ricks (3) added to the Northeast scoring.

Riley Cutler and Reagan Stoops each scored 12 points to lead Pungo.

In the middle school girls game, Northeast rode the hot hand of Hayes Hatcher who scored 16 points in a 36-15 win over Pungo. Payton Odom (8), Karson Ricks (5), Lindsey White (4), and Chloe Long (3) rounded out the Northeast scoring.

Pungo won the middle school boys game, 42-16. Judson Smith (7), Chance Lassiter (5), Colby Long (2), and Mason Vann (2) handled the scoring for Northeast.

Northeast is scheduled to play three games this week: home vs. Ridgecroft (Jan. 19) and Lawrence (Jan. 21) before traveling to Pungo on Jan. 22. Times, dates and locations are subject to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
