AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School administration received notification on Tuesday (Jan. 12) that a student recently on campus tested positive for COVID-19.

Ridgecroft is obligated to protect the privacy of the individual involved, but believes it is best to communicate with transparency so the school community can make well-informed decisions.

School officials also shared information regarding one additional student and two staff members that tested positive for the virus. These three individuals have not been on the Ridgecroft campus since school released for holiday break on Dec. 18, 2020.

There are also some Ridgecroft students and teachers quarantining at home for a 14-day period because of direct exposure to COVID-19.

Virtual learning is available to any Ridgecroft student in quarantine.

“The safety and health of Ridgecroft students, staff and families will continue to be our top priority, and we will continue to work with ARHS (Albemarle Regional Health Services) and ARHS-Hertford County to address the situation,” stated Russell Johnson, the school’s Headmaster.

Johnson added that Ridgecroft will remain open and continue to follow all COVID-related safety procedures, temperature checks, health screenings, face coverings, frequent hand washing, frequent disinfecting, and social distancing.
