MENOLA – Theresa Lassiter Brinkley, age 78, of Menola-St. John Road, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the Vidant Greenville of Greenville, NC.

Mrs. Brinkley was born on April 27, 1942 to Clingy Lewis Lassiter and Mary Elizabeth Congleton Lassiter in Bertie County, NC. Theresa was a dedicated member of Menola Baptist Church for many years. She was a hard worker and kept books for many local businesses in the area. She was devoted to helping others and a vital member of the Menola community. She was always working in the church and the community. Theresa loved her family and always treated her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews as her own children. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Brinkley; her sister, Emma Lassiter Dickerson; and her brother, Frankie Stephen Lassiter.

Theresa is survived by her brother, Clingy Louis Lassiter and wife Mandy of Aulander; niece, Renee Hoggard of Greenville; two nephews, Marty Stephenson of Aulander, and Michael Lassiter of Raleigh; three great-nieces, Melanie White, Lindsey Brown, and Chelsea Hoggard; three great-nephews, Tyler Lassiter, Braxton Lassiter, and Cole Hoggard, and special friend, Horace Outland.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home of her brother, Clingy.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Willie McLawhorn and Rev. Dr. Jesse Croom officiating. Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery, Aulander, NC.
