SUNBURY, NC – Wanda Dean Clark Aston, 88, of Sunbury, NC, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Aston was born in Austinville, VA on January 8, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Paul William Dean and Edith Bryant Dean. A retired cafeteria manager from Gates County Public Schools, she was an active member of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church in Edenton, having given her heart to her Lord at age 16 and faithfully serving Him for the last 72 years. Other enjoyments in life included her love of reading having read hundreds if not thousands of books over the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William O. Clark; sisters, Betty Lou and Jewel; and by brothers, Graydon, Bernard, Larry and Ronnie.

Surviving are her husband of 25 years, Carl W. Aston; three daughters, Judy C. Harrell and husband, Dennis, of Eure, Patricia C. Key-Jones and husband, John, of Birmingham, AL, and Nancy C. Hedgepeth and husband, Larry, also of Eure; six grandchildren, Daniel, Travis, Michael, Krystal, Christopher, and Brandon; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery, Corapeake, and will be conducted by Pastors Danny Gurganus and Billy Paramore. Friends may join the family at the residence. Masks and social distancing practices should be followed during the service and during visits with the family.
