As Vidant Health continues to respond to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic across North Carolina, they are taking steps to ensure the safety of all. Vidant remains vigilant with its screening process for all visitors, entry requirements and visitor restrictions by department.

In response to increased spread of COVID-19 in eastern North Carolina, Vidant is further restricting its visitation guidelines in hospitals, clinics and emergency departments.

Importantly, Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital will continue to prohibit visitors in both the emergency department and inpatient units as they have done since Nov. 25. The Outer Banks Hospital will also prohibit visitors in the emergency department and inpatient units as of Monday, Jan. 4.

As of Dec. 30, Vidant’s system-wide census of hospitalized COVID-19 patients reached 187. Additionally, positivity rates for those tested for COVID-19 have steadily increased since the Thanksgiving holiday, reaching a current rate of about 22%, the highest rate Vidant has seen all year.
