AHOSKIE – Eliza Mae’s Closet, a children’s and women’s boutique store located at 905 East Memorial Drive in Ahoskie, held its inaugural Eliza Mae Day on Saturday, Oct. 10.

A bake sale coupled with a percentage of proceeds from the sale of items in the store totaled $1,620 that was donated to Kennedy’s Angel Gowns.

Eliza Mae – the daughter of Ashley and Willie Brown of Ahoskie – was “born sleeping” on Oct. 9, 2019.

Kennedy’s Angel Gowns makes burial clothing for infants. They also accept donations to place cuddle cots at local hospitals. The cot is a special cooling pad inserted into a baby basinet, which helps extend the time a bereaved family has together after the death of their infant. One has been donated on Eliza Mae’s behalf to Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

“Thank you to every volunteer that helped us today and every customer that made a purchase or made a donation. We are truly blessed all the way around,” said Ashley Brown. “Y’all are amazing! Thank you so much for making our first annual Eliza Mae Day a success!”
