Teen girl shot, killed in Lewiston

LEWISTON-WOODVILLE – A homicide investigation is underway here after a 16-year-old female was shot and killed.

The victim is identified as Iynasha Sayntae Graham. She was listed as a student at Bertie High School.

Bertie County Sheriff John Holley stated that on Friday, Oct. 9, the Sheriff’s Office received a call at around 1 a.m. in reference to shots being fired in the area of Lake Drive in Lewiston.

Patrol deputies along with Bertie County EMS arrived on the scene and discovered the young girl was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

No other details were shared about the crime scene or a possible motive for the deadly shooting.

Holley said Bertie County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the North Carolina SBI with the homicide investigation. Both agencies are requesting the public to provide any information they have to the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office by calling 252-794-5330.
