COVID-19 was responsible for the deaths of three more individuals in the Roanoke-Chowan area this week.

Two of the deaths were reported in Bertie County, according to Albemarle Regional Health Services (ARHS). One was in the 50-65 year-old age range while the other was age 65-or-over.

On Friday, ARHS reported another death in Hertford County. That person was also in the 65-and-over age range.

None of the deaths this week are related to any of the current facility outbreaks in the local area.

The two latest virus victims in Bertie County pushed the death toll there to 11. Hertford County has 32 COVID-related deaths.

Meanwhile, the death toll from COVID-19 remains unchanged, to date, in Northampton (17) and Gates (3).

As of Oct. 2, ARHS reported the following information (note – the number of lab confirmed cases represent a cumulative total since the outbreak began in March):

Bertie County – 615 cases; 1 active, 603 recovered.

Gates County – 145 cases; 10 active, 132 recovered.

Hertford County – 787 cases; 36 active, 719 recovered.

The Northampton County Health Department reported 489 total positive cases since the outbreak began, with 35 active cases and 437 recoveries.

Also as of Oct. 2, ARHS reported no major changes in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at congregate living facilities in the Roanoke-Chowan area.
