NCSO probes Friday murder

GARYSBURG – The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is soliciting the public’s assistance in helping to solve a murder.

Sheriff Jack Smith said his investigators are seeking more information in the shooting death of 42-year-old Terrence Webb of Pleasant Hill.

That shooting occurred just before 12 midnight on Friday, July 31. It was at that time where Northampton Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Garysburg Housing Projects in reference to a male subject being shot.

Webb was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Garysburg Fire Department, Garysburg Police Department, and Northampton County EMS personnel responded to the scene to assist.

“We would like to thank the Weldon Police Department for their assistance in initial investigation,” Sheriff Smith said in a statement.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation also responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation. Smith said this is an on-going investigation and no other information is being released to the public at this time.
