AHOSKIE, NC – Joyce Rawls Williams, 78, of Ahoskie, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville, NC.

Joyce was born in Northampton County on March 1, 1942 in George, NC to the late Estelle and Ernest Rawls. She was a long time faithful and dedicated member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She loved family gatherings as well as vacationing with her family. She often reminisced by telling stories of places they visited together. Joyce worked as a Secretary for Georgia Pacific.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger Vann Williams; sister, Viola Rawls Glover and brother-in-law, David Glover.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted brother, Ernest Stanton Rawls of Rich Square NC; two sisters-in-law, Fannie W. Casper of Millennium, NC and Ann W. Lincoln of Charlotte, NC along with several nieces and nephews.

Due to the circumstances with COVID-19 restrictions, family and friends may pay their respects and sign the register book on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC.

A special thanks to Dr. Tae Joon Lee and all the staff of the Hospice House for their abundant love and care.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at 11:00 am at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Rich Square, NC, with Rev. Mickey Willard officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 221 Pleasant Grove Road, Aulander, NC 27805.
