COLERAIN – Idalia Byrd Harrell, age 87, passed away on February 27, 2020 at the Primetime Assisted Living of Edenton, NC.

Mrs. Harrell was born in Bertie County, NC on May 18, 1932, a daughter of the late Raleigh and Ozie Brown Byrd. Idalia was a homemaker at heart and loved to cook and do for others. She enjoyed working in her yard and took great pride in the work she did. She was a dedicated member of Perrytown Assembly of God Church and was very active as long as her health permitted. Idalia also was very active in the community, always helping with the fire department activities and other community events.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Zebulon Hollowell Harrell; a son, Joseph Michael Harrell; and a daughter, Esther Harrell.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Phyllis H. Davidson and husband, Kenneth of Colerain, NC; her grandson, Trent Davidson of Colerain; and her granddaughter, Miranda Harrell of Washington, NC. Also surviving are three sisters, Verona DeBaun of Virginia Beach, VA, Artye Powers of Chesapeake, VA, and Sylvia Cahoon of Elizabeth City, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Perrytown Assembly of God Church, Colerain NC, with Rev. Randy Pierce and Rev. McCray Dove, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain, NC.
