WINTON – The second suspect wanted for the Jan. 24 armed robbery of Family Dollar in Colerain has joined his alleged partner in crime behind bars.

On Sunday, 25-year-old Ray’Quan Langford turned himself in to the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office.

Bertie Sheriff John Holley said the work of his investigators along with those with the Hertford County Sheriff were able to identify Langford and 19-year-old Dy’twan Chamblee as the two suspects in the Colerain heist.

Chamblee was in the custody of the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office when the arrest warrants were served on him for the Colerain crime.

Hertford County Sheriff Dexter Hayes said that both men were charged in connection with the armed robbery of the Duck Thru convenience store in Cofield. That heist took place after the Family Dollar robbery in Colerain, Hayes said.

Langford is being held under a total secured bond of $500,000 for both crimes while Chamblee’s bond was set at $100,000 secured.

On Jan. 24, the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 11:30 a.m. that two unknown armed men had entered the Colerain Family Dollar store on South Main Street and demanded money.

During a verbal exchange with the clerk on duty, one suspect discharged a gunshot from a firearm that ricocheted off the floor, striking the clerk in the arm where she sustained a small treatable wound to her forearm.

During their investigation, officers learned the two unknown male robbers left running on foot with an unknown amount of cash.
