AULANDER – Mrs. Goldie Lee Bradley Lassiter, age 101, just a few days shy of 102, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 peacefully at her home, surrounded by her beloved family.

Mrs. Goldie was born on March 24, 1918 to Obed Clarence Bradley and Elizabeth Morris Bradley in Bertie County, NC. Goldie was only 10 years old when her mother died and 16 years old when her father died. She had four brothers, Worlie, Winfred, Jessie, and Leban, and three sisters, Lida, Lula, and Ella (better known as Aunt Snooks).

She met, and later married Daniel Webster Lassiter on March 23, 1935 and they were married for over 75 years. At their 75th anniversary party, someone asked what they thought causes a marriage to last so long and as we all can agree, “A Good Christian Woman”, and that is what Mrs. Goldie was.

Goldie and Webster were blessed with three children, Marion, Daniel, and Wayne, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She always loved family gatherings and birthday parties. Goldie enjoyed being active in her family’s lives and her community. She and Webster were instrumental in establishing the Aulander Fire Department and Rescue Squad. She enjoyed cooking and preparing for church, community, and school functions with one of her most famous requests being her Sea-Foam Candy.

Goldie was a faithful and dedicated member of Aulander Baptist Church, and always encouraged her family to attend church as well. She served her church and her Lord in many capacities, such as WMU and other committees, but her favorite was caring and teaching children in the nursery. Goldie was faithful to her family, friends, and community and praised her Lord Jesus for her life and longevity. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Besides her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly Lynn Tibbitt.

Left to cherish Goldie’s wonderful life is a daughter, Marion Lassiter Dilday and husband Robert of Colerain; two sons, Daniel Earl Lassiter and wife Sue of Aulander, and Clarence Wayne Lassiter and wife Betty of Aulander; two granddaughters, Joyce Brown and husband Braxton of Ahoskie, and Karen Hoggard and husband Greg of Ahoskie; two grandsons, Dana Alton Lassiter of Aulander, and Michael Wayne Lassiter and wife Connie of Princeton; four great granddaughters, Jessica Spruill and husband Thomas of Colerain, Tina Brown of Tarboro, Kristin Hoggard of Ahoskie, and Aslyn Tibbitt of Aulander; four great grandsons, Trent Hoggard of Ahoskie, Gannon Lassiter of Greenville, Caden Lassiter of Greenville, and Hunter Lassiter of Princeton; along with many extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 20, 2020, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home.
