AHOSKIE, NC – Joyce Burton Myers passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 in London, England. She died peacefully in her sleep and was with her beloved husband, JB, and family.

Joyce had battled Alzheimer’s for over a decade. However, during the last year or so, Joyce and JB went on some exciting adventures including the trip of a lifetime to England and Wales this past Christmas holiday. It was at the very end of this trip when she passed away.

Joyce was born on July 30, 1935 in Seaboard, NC. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth Duke Burton and Walter L. Burton. She graduated Salutatorian from Seaboard High School and then spent her married life in Ahoskie, NC raising her four children. In the last year, she and her husband have resided in Wilson, NC with their daughter and her family.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jesse Bernard Myers “JB”; sister, Elizabeth Evans; son, Richard Myers “Ricky” (Debbie); son, Gerald Myers (Loretta); daughter, Susan Myers (Sheila); son, Kimsey Myers (Michelle); grandchildren, Brad Myers (Julia), Matthew Myers (Jennifer), Melinda Myers (Chad), Taylor Baker (Dustin), Cameron Myers-Milne, and Logan Myers; great grandchildren, Kelsea Myers, Rhys Myers, Mason Palazzolo, Eisley Myers, and Callum Myers.

The family would like to express gratitude to and thank Amedisys Hospice Care for all their loving care toward Joyce.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Open Arms Church, 1418 NC 461, Ahoskie, NC 27910. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joyce will be held at Open Arms Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2020.
