WINTON – A person of interest has been developed in an armed robbery that occurred last week.

Hertford County Sheriff Dexter Hayes is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 22-year-old Michael Majette. He is believed to reside in the St. John community.

It was there at approximately 8:21 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 that the Corner Shop, located on NC 561, was robbed at gunpoint.

“From our investigation, which included looking at the store’s surveillance cameras, we know that one of the two suspects involved in this robbery was armed with a handgun,” Sheriff Hayes said. “We’re not sure at this point whether or not the second suspect was carrying a weapon.”

Hayes added that Majette was only wanted for questioning at this stage of the investigation.

“We have no arrest warrants on file for Mr. Majette,” Hayes stressed. “We have not charged him with anything. All we want to do at this point is question him.”

Those knowing Majette’s whereabouts are encouraged to call the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office at 252-358-7800.
