GATES, NC – James Eddie Winslow, 80, of 655 Rooks Road, Gates, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in his home.

Mr. Winslow was born in Gates County on October 28, 1938, and was the son of the late Edd Ocil and Myrtle Copeland Winslow. A Vietnam veteran, he retired from the US Air Force following 20 years of service, and later worked with GTL Transport in Suffolk, VA for over 26 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Bruce Winslow.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 59 years, Barbara Kersey Winslow; a son, Bradley Jack Winslow and wife, Patricia, of Roseville, CA; a brother, Donald Winslow of Wilson; three grandchildren, Michelle Tebbs, Angela Jones, and Brandee Spencer; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville. Burial will follow in Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery.

Friends may join the family on Sunday, June 30 from 5 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
