Ahoskie man killed in Jackson wreck

JACKSON – An Ahoskie man was killed near here early Friday morning in a single vehicle accident.

The wreck, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper W.S. Smith, claimed the life of 25-year-old Dequan Shakee Foreman.

The accident report filed by Trooper Smith showed the accident occurring shortly before 2 a.m. on a stretch of NC 305, approximately 2.6 miles southeast of Jackson, near its intersection with Dusty Hill Road.

There, Foreman was operating a 2001 Nissan passenger car. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road, where it initially struck a ditch before impacting a tree. The car came to rest in the wood line located off NC 305.

Smith’s report noted that Foreman was not wearing a seatbelt. He was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no passengers in the car.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
