COLERAIN, NC – Nadine White Hewitt, age 89, passed away on June 1, 2019 at the Accordius Health and Rehabilitation at Creekside in Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Hewitt was born on September 9, 1929 to Ralph and Lula Cale White in Bertie County, NC. Nadine was a devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church, being in attendance every chance she could. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and dancing. Nadine was an avid outdoors woman spending time gardening and anything else to keep her outdoors. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Daniel Hewitt; a daughter, Carol H. McFatter; three brothers, Dederick, Elder, and Detroit Collins White; and two sisters, Girlean Hoggard, and Ella Thompson.

Nadine is survived by two daughters, Brenda H. Brinkley and husband Jodie of Ahoskie, and Christie H. Jernigan and husband Ronald of Colerain, NC; son, Ralph C. Hewitt of Ahoskie; three granddaughters, Sherri Draughn of Clemmons, NC, Melissa Jernigan of Colerain, and Amy Pierce and husband Phillip of Jamesville, NC; two grandsons, Earl McFatter and wife Heather of Georgia, and Brian Jernigan and wife Noelle of Williamston, NC; seven great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; three step-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Bethany Baptist Church, Colerain, NC, with Rev. Tommy Tripp officiating. There will be a private burial at Stoney Creek Cemetery prior to the service.
