RICH SQUARE – Evelyn Lassiter Bryant of Rich Square died peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Courtyards at Berne Village, Memory Care, of New Bern surrounded by her three children.
Mrs. Bryant was born on October 15, 1925 to Eley and Clara Lassiter of Rich Square. She was married to the Edgar Earl Bryant on July 28, 1946 and to this marriage was born three children. Mrs. Bryant was a lifelong member of the Rich Square Baptist Church. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend to all that knew her. Mrs. Bryant had a gift for care giving as she attended to the needs of her family and friends. She worked for forty-two years as a quality controller for Mylcraft Manufacturing in Rich Square.
Preceding her in death is her mother and father, her husband, her great-grandson, Ethan Davis, her two sisters, Janice Morris and Erva Bradley, and four brothers, Earl, Henry, John “Bud”, and Glenn Lassiter.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Edgar Earl Bryant Jr. and his wife Karen of Chester, VA; two daughters, Janice Inez “Susan” Bryant Davis of Greenville, and Jane B. Wooten and her husband Kenneth of New Bern; two granddaughters, Cheryl Lynn Davis of Winterville, and Renee Wooten Kettner and her wife Jen of New Bern; three grandsons, Christopher Wayne Davis of Goldsboro, Brad Wooten and his wife Tiffany of Orlando, FL, and Justin Wooten and his wife Paige of Hilton Head, SC; two great-granddaughters, Rachel English and Jasmine Mendez, both of New Bern; seven great-grandsons, Brandon Green and Christian Green, both of Winterville, Luke English and Ryder Mendez, both of New Bern, and Zac Wooten, Eli Wooten, and Tate Wooten, all of Orlando, FL; two brothers, Alton Lassiter of Chesapeake, VA, and Charles Lassiter and his wife, Edith of Rich Square; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the fellowship hall of the Rich Square Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 11:00-11:45 am. On Monday and Tuesday, the family will be at the Lassiter home place at 3948 Hwy 305, Rich Square, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Rich Square Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bob Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the love and care that was provided to their mother from all the staff of the Courtyards at Berne Village, Memory Care, of New Bern.
