COLERAIN – Medie Woodruff Merritt, 92, passed from this life into her eternal home on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

A native of Northampton County, Medie was the daughter of the late Clyde H. Woodruff and Lucille Hargrave Woodruff. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Merritt; a brother, Thurman Woodruff Sr.; and a sister, Sue Woodruff Davis.

A retired homemaker, Medie enjoyed sewing, crafting, and gardening, as well as spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Merritt is survived by a son, Samuel T. ”Dickie” Jordan of Roanoke Rapids; a daughter, Helen Jordan Draper of Ahoskie; step-sons, Lawrence W. (Linda) Merritt of Clearwater Fla., and Daniel S. “Steve” (Frances) Merritt of Roanoke Rapids; a step-daughter, Linda C. Hopkins (Ronnie) of Elizabeth City; brothers, Lynn and Glenn Woodruff of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Jean Hargrove of Newport News, Virginia; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Minister Steve Merritt officiating. The family will receive friends at Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
