In 1984, the White House in Washington D.C. officially recognized Social Worker Month nationally to show appreciation for all Social Workers who provide Social Work services to Mankind.

The month of March is National Professional Social Work Month, which is an opportunity for Social Workers across the country to be recognized for their hard work and highlight the important contributions they make to society.

Social Workers can come in many arenas of life. Social Workers work in government agencies, private businesses, schools, Police Departments, Courts, hospitals and private practices.

The Hertford County Department of Social Services employs approximately 17 Social Workers who are all skilled and trained to provide a quality professional service to all clients we serve.

Being a Social Worker can be challenging, however it can also be a rewarding experience. It requires emotional and personal maturity.

Hertford County’s Social Work profession practice the six core values as a Social Worker. We strive daily to provide quality service, social justice, dignity and worth to all individuals, competence and most of all integrity.

We would like to thank all of our Social Workers for a job well done in the commitment in providing clients with the tools needed to become self sufficient. “We can’t promise to fix all of your problems, but we can promise, you won’t have to face them alone” – Author unknown.
