Ahoskie and Wilson split Legion twinbill

AHOSKIE – Ahoskie Post 102 and Wilson Post 13 split a junior American Legion doubleheader as Ahoskie wins the first game 14-4 and Wilson wins the second game 9-8 here Sunday afternoon.

In the first game, Ahoskie beat Wilson by 10 runs in a conference game.

Post 102 scores eight runs in the bottom of the first and add three in the bottom of the second and lead 11-0 after two innings. Ahoskie goes on to win in the five inning game.

Ahoskie has 15 hits and are led by Tyrek Beverly who had 3 hits and 3 RBI’s. Ethan Hughson also has 3 hits. Spencer Simonowich, Ryan Rowe, and Evan Lassiter have 2 hits. Hunter Mitchell, Trevor Lee, and Edward Bradley each have 1 hit.

Trent Munford pitches 2 innings for the win for Post 102.

Trent Hobbs and Evan Lassiter also pitch.

In the second game Wilson Post 13 edges Ahoskie by one run.

Wilson leads 9-1 after 3 innings. Ahoskie rallied for seven runs in the top of the fourth to trail 9-8. Ahoskie does not score in the top of the fifth and Wilson gains the split of the doubleheader.

Ahoskie has 8 hits. Mitchell had 2 hits including a 2 run homer. Steven Futrell, Trevor Lee, Trent Hobbs, Parker Bradley, Evan Lassiter, and Zack Lassiter each have 1 hit.

Sam Doughtie, Edward Bradley and Ethan Hughson pitch for Post 102.

Head coach David Ellis said, “We hit the ball all day. In the second game we fell behind and lost. It was a good conference win for us in the first game.”

Ahoskie is now 5-5 overall and 2-3 in Area 1 conference play.
