HALIFAX – Dr. Eric Cunningham, Superintendent of Halifax County Schools, announces the promotion of Dr. Pamela D. Chamblee to Executive Director of School Transformation for the district.

Dr. Chamblee, a native of Hertford County, brings a wealth of educational and school turnaround experience. She has turned around schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Most notably, the former Northampton High School-East grew from 44% to over 83% and was determined by the state to be a School of Distinction.

She has served Halifax County Schools for the past five years and has been a part of the growth efforts in the district.

Dr. Chamblee’s first district assignment will be to serve as educational leader at William R. Davie STEM Middle School. From there, she will be assigned within the district to other recurring low performing schools.

Dr. Cunningham’s quest for excellence and innovative schools led him to tap Dr. Chamblee to focus on teaching and learning in individual schools.

Dr. Cunningham stated, “As we chart a new course, I needed a master principal whose reputation for leading and turning around schools is as impeccable as that of Dr. Chamblee. I respect the legacy she left in Northampton County and I look forward to supporting her as she brings that same tenacity and excellence to her new role.  In addition, she will mentor principals and assist with the principal selection process.”

Dr. Chamblee will begin her new assignment immediately.
