GREENVILLE – Rachel Pearl Harrell Barnes of Greenville, NC, formally of Aulander, NC, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017.

She was the daughter of the late William Johnny and Martha Jane Cooke Harrell. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Ray Barnes; her daughter, Donna Sweeney; and several nieces and nephews.

Rachel is survived by her three sons, Johnny Barnes and his wife, Sherry of Ashville, NC, Jesse Barnes and his fiancé, Debbie Hoffman of Greenville, NC, and Joey Barnes of Aulander, NC; her four grandchildren, Brian Barnes, Chris Barnes, Brandon Barnes, and Bryce Barnes; and her brother, Richard Harrell and his wife Penny of Askewville, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC with Rev. Jim Cox officiating.

Interment will follow in Aulander Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m.
