Alton M. Robertson

COLERAIN, NC – Alton Morris Robertson, age 84, passed away on April 20, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Robertson was born on September 2, 1932 to the late William and Sadie Morris Robertson in Bertie County, NC. Alton graduated from Mars Hills High School in 1950. He excelled at showing short horned cattle at State Fairs in North Carolina and Virginia. Alton was a lifetime farmer and enjoyed his time doing so. He was co-owner of Robertson Brothers Farms. Alton was an active member of Mars Hill Baptist Church where he served in many capacities, deacon, men’s choir, finance committee, just to mention a few. He was always willing to help in any way, when the need arose at the church.

Besides his parents, Alton was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Reid, and brothers, Milton Truitt Robertson, and William Julian Robertson, Jr.

Alton is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Inez of the home; two daughters, Cindy Johnson and husband Earl of Ahoskie, NC, and Dawn Bowman and husband Eric of Colerain, NC; sister, Sara Watts and husband John of Cary, NC; sister-in-law Charlotte Robertson of Colerain, two granddaughters, Brandi Johnson Lynch, and Caroline Baker Bowman; grandson, Brent Morris Johnson; three great-grandsons, Grant Morris Johnson, Wyatt Alton Lynch, and William Earl Lynch; and great-granddaughter, Karlee Virginia Lynch; two nephews Truitt Robertson of Ahoskie, and Greg Robertson and wife Rosemary of Colerain, NC; and niece, Jennifer Derrick and husband Jimmy of Garner, NC. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at any time at the home.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at Mars Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Burke Holland and the Rev. Billy Presley, officiating. The family will have a private burial prior to the celebration of life service.
