AHOSKIE, NC – Florence Robertson Reid, age 94, passed away on April 13, 2017 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Reid was born in Bertie County, NC, on July 27, 1922 a daughter of the late William J. and Sadie Morris Robertson. She was a graduate of Bertie High School, attended Chowan College and graduated from East Carolina Teachers College, now East Carolina University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught in several public-school systems.

Besides her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Reid, Sr.; her son, John Edward Reid, Jr.; and brothers, Julian Robertson and Milton Robertson.

Florence is survived by her sister, Sarah Watts and husband, John of Cary, NC; her brother, Alton Robertson and wife, Inez of Colerain, NC; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Robertson of Colerain, NC; three nieces, Cindy Johnson and husband, Earl of Ahoskie, NC, Dawn Bowman and husband, Eric of Colerain, NC, and Jennifer Derrick and husband, Jimmy of Garner, NC; two nephews, Truett Robertson of Ahoskie, NC, and Greg Robertson and wife, Rosemary of Colerain, NC; and several great nieces and nephews.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
