AHOSKIE – It’s a fundraising idea that can also help save lives.

The Junior Firefighters of the Town of Ahoskie and Ahoskie Rural fire departments have launched a project where they are selling reflective address signs for $20 each. Those signs are extremely helpful, and help speed up response time, when emergency responders – fire, police, and rescue – are en route to 9-1-1 calls.

Residents wishing to purchase a sign are encouraged to stop by the Ahoskie Fire Department, located on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and fill out an application. The signs can accommodate up to five digits of a residential or business address.

Those living within the town’s or rural fire district’s coverage area can have the signs installed at no additional charge. The signs are also available for those residing outside the Ahoskie district. However, the free installation offer does not apply.

Proceeds from the sale of the signs will benefit the Hertford County Firefighter’s Association and Honor Guard.
