AHOSKIE – Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital invites the community to visit their new radiation oncology center for an open house and view the newest radiation therapy equipment available for cancer care treatment in the area.

An ‘Open House’ for the community will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, March 30 so everyone can learn about the latest advances in cancer care and treatment.

Radiation therapy is one type of treatment for patients with cancer, along with chemotherapy, medications, and other new forms of treatment. Patients may be prescribed one or all of these treatments in their cancer care plan.

“Our new Varian VitalBeam system offers more precise treatment for prostate, breast, lung, head and neck cancers, as well as other types of cancer,” states Melva Pinn-Bingham, MD, radiation oncologist at the center.

Dr. Pinn-Bingham and the radiation oncology team will be on hand to answer questions at the open house. ‘Cancer-fighting’ foods will be served for refreshments, information about cancer care available, and guests can register for a ‘FitBit’ to be given away that day.

The radiation oncology center is located at 301 South Memorial Drive in Ahoskie across the street from the hospital and DrugCo.
