Herman A. Clark

MURFREESBORO, NC – Herman Alfred Clark, age 86, passed away on March 11, 2017 at the Northampton Health and Rehabilitation Center of Jackson, NC.

Mr. Clark was born in Victoria, VA on April 2, 1930 to Herman H. and Luida Darlington Clark. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Williamson and Margaret Freeman.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith “Judy” Owen Clark; three daughters, Robin C. McEnaney and husband Ed of Oak Island, NC, Laura C. Driggers of Florence, SC, and Sally C. Agee and husband Martin of Louisa, VA; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Abby McEnaney, David, Leigh Anna, and Clark Driggers, and Anna Grace and Owen Agee; and one brother, Gene Clark of Victoria, VA.

Herman is a graduate of Victoria High School, Fork Union Military Academy Post, Graduate Course, Chowan University, and Guilford College. He also served in the Old Guard Army Co. during the Korean Conflict. After graduation, Herman taught school and coached football and baseball for 30 years, serving in Crewe, VA; Garner, NC; Scotland Neck, NC; Warsaw, NC; and Murfreesboro, NC.

His greatest love was his family, enjoying many years of camping, building sand castles on the beach, golfing, and fishing with family and friends. He was a member of Murfreesboro Baptist Church where he served as deacon, church teller, and president of the Men’s Sunday School class for many years.

The family wants to thank the kind, loving staff at Northampton Health and Rehab Center in Jackson, NC for the excellent care they gave Herman.

The family received friends on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel – Murfreesboro.

A celebration of life memorial service was held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Murfreesboro Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, NC, with Dr. M Christopher White, officiating.
