JACKSON – The land records from the Northampton County Register of Deeds office are now available for the first time on the Internet. They can be accessed for free at northamptonrod.org.

The computerized index will offer access to records from January 1, 1991 to current. Scanned images currently go back to April of 1966.

Northampton County Register of Deeds Robin Phillips Williams and her staff are currently in the process of scanning additional records to increase the amount of digital data made available to the public in both the office and online.  By scanning the records themselves, the Register’s staff is saving the county thousands of dollars in conversion costs.

The records on the Internet will be updated at the same time that these records are updated in the office.  Unverified indexing records will be available, but will have names colored red to indicate that they have not yet been verified. Once these records have been verified, the names will revert to black.

Williams expressed excitement about being able to offer this service to the citizens of Northampton County and other users of the office.

“One of my goals in improving the office was to offer Internet access to our land records,” Williams said. “We have been working towards that goal for several months. I want to thank my staff for their efforts in digitizing additional deed book records. This will allow us to offer not only the indexing data back to 1991, but also the images of the documents themselves.

“I would also like to thank Ms. Kimberly Turner, County Manager, her administrative team and the commissioners for their support in our automation efforts. I plan to continue to increase the amount of data available in digital format in the office and to improve our disaster recovery protections,” Williams added.
