JACKSON – Chad Timberlake, arrested recently on a breaking and entering/larceny case in Hertford County, now faces more charges in neighboring jurisdictions for similar crimes.

After searching his residence on Feb. 8 and discovering several items alleged to be stolen earlier that same day from a home off NC 561 in Hertford County, Northampton County Sheriff’s Office investigators collected and seized several kitchen and utility room appliances, numerous game systems, numerous amounts of ammunition, guns, and multiple other items that were determined to be stolen from Northampton County, Bertie County, and Franklin, VA.

That led Northampton Sheriff’s personnel to file charges against Timberlake for two felony counts of possession of stolen goods, and one felony count of possession of a stolen firearm, according to Patrick Jacobs, Captain of the NCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division.

Timberlake’s bond for the Northampton crimes was set at $60,000. He is scheduled to make his initial appearance on March 7 in Northampton County District Court to answer those charges.

Capt. Jacobs added that as a result of discovering items in Timberlake’s home, the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office obtained arrest warrants against Timberlake for two felony counts of breaking and entering, and two felony counts of larceny. Evidence shows that those items were stolen during a pair of separate break-ins in Bertie County.

NCSO Sgt. A. Roye also obtained two additional warrants on Timberlake for possession of the stolen property from Bertie County. These warrants were served on Timberlake on Feb. 15 by Deputy T. Antunez where Timberlake received a $15,000 secured bond.

For that charge, Timberlake made his first court appearance in Northampton on Feb. 16. He is scheduled to make a first appearance in Bertie County District Court on Feb. 22.

“I would like to thank all the officers for their hard work and diligent effort in working this case and the quick response to assist with the call from Hertford County Sheriff’s Office,” stated Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith. “We want citizens to feel safe and we will do everything in our effort to apprehend anyone responsible for careless acts of break-ins.

“We at the Sheriff’s Office take these cases very serious. Investigators have been in contact with Hertford County, Bertie County, Halifax County, and Virginia authorities and we’ve been working together to solve these break-in’s and others. Our agency will continue to work together with neighboring agencies,” Sheriff Smith added.

The original charges against Timberlake were filed by the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 8 in regards to the break-in and larceny of a washer/dryer and several boxes of floor tile at the residence off NC 561 near Tri-County Airport.

That crime also allegedly involved Michael Stuhr of Lasker in Northampton County.

Hertford County Chief Deputy Will Liverman charged both men with three felonies – breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods. Those items were discovered in Timberlake’s home on Feb. 8.

Each was placed under a $15,000 bond and made their initial appearance last week in Hertford County District Court.
