Helen T. Cotton

COFIELD, NC – Helen Taylor Cotton, age 88, passed away on February 5, 2017 at the Creekside Care & Rehab of Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Cotton was born in Hertford County on December 7, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Betty White Taylor. She was a longtime active member of Harrellsville United Methodist Church and the Harrellsville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.  Helen loved to cook and enjoyed gardening, writing letters and notes to her friends, watching college basketball, especially NC State, and most of all she loved her family and church.

Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Erwin Cotton, Sr.; a sister, Nell Smith; her brothers, Linwood Taylor and John Taylor; and a grandson, Keith Cotton.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, James Erwin Cotton Jr. and wife, Rhonda of Cofield, NC, and Ronald Keith Cotton and wife, Debbie of Tunis, NC; granddaughters, Jaime Ambrose, and Brittany Conner and husband, Jeff; grandsons, David Cotton and wife Amanda, Lee White, and J. A. Williford; seven great grandsons, Joseph Ambrose, Jonathan Ambrose, Jackson Ambrose, Lawson Cotton, Brantley Cotton, Bryce Conner and Harrison Williford; and two great granddaughters, Briley Conner, and Madison White.

A celebration of life service was held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Harrellsville United Methodist Church, Harrellsville, NC, with Rev. Walter Johnston, III, and Rev. Dennis Adams, officiating. Burial followed in the Harrellsville Cemetery.
