NEWPORT NEWS, VA – On Christmas Eve, a wonderful man, John Edgar Evans, peacefully and quietly slipped away from this life to join his mother, Margaret Brett Evans, father, William Graham Evans, Sr. and the Lord.

He was the adored brother of Graham Evans (Donna); sister Sarah Huddleston (Tom); Uncle to Bill, Brett, Byrne (Sara), Katie (Ed), and Mikey (Jennifer). He was also the Great Uncle of Sam, Maggie, Brett, Maggie, Hayden, Miller, Thomas, and Meriwether.

His friends from his youth in Murfreesboro, NC, through his life in Charlottesville VA, and later years in the Warwick Forrest Community, Newport News, VA will be left to treasure the memories of his always happy and friendly personality.

A celebration of life graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro. Chaplain Joseph Riss will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at the Whitehurst-Adams House on High Street.
