AHOSKIE – The Gallery Theatre in Ahoskie announces that auditions for Noises Off will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24 and Thursday, Jan. 26.

Call backs are scheduled for Friday, Jan. 27.

Auditions are held on the Gallery Theatre stage, 115 Main Street West. Plan to audition one of the two evenings and read cold from the script.

Also, for those that wish to prepare an audition piece, have a comedic monologue ready to perform.

“Show us how you do funny,” says director James Shafer.

Called the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called “Nothing’s On.” Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.

Written by Michael Frayn, Noises Off is a play within a play. It is about an ambitious director and his troupe of mediocre actors. The cast and crew are putting together a silly sex comedy titled, “Nothing On” – a single-set farce in which lovers frolic, doors slam, clothes are tossed away, and embarrassing hi-jinks ensue.
