LASKER – Northeast Academy dropped a pair of games last week: crushed on the road by league co-leader, Terra Ceia, 108-36 before they were edged out by Hobgood at home, 59-50.

Meanwhile, the Northeast junior varsity girls continued their winning ways as NEA got 16 points from Carly Stephenson and 13 more from Olivia Wheeler in a 43-21 win at Terra Ceia.  Emalee Jones finished with six points and four apiece for Jessie Martin and Allie Liverman.  Carly James had nine for the Lady Knights.

Northeast’s jayvee boys split their two games: a 15-point performance by Matt VanStaauldin helped Terra Ceia win 45-14 as the Eagles were held scoreless in the first quarter.  Hunter Futrell and Josh Simmons shared scoring honors for NEA with four points each.  J.T. Simmons had three, two for Kendal Timberlake, and one for Noah Lassiter.   Northeast rebounded at home Tuesday with a 45-19 win over Hobgood thanks to a dozen points from Simmons.

In the boy’s varsity games, 25 points each from Tyler Hendrix and Darius Blackledge propelled TCCS to a 108-36 win; while Tay Mosley poured in 21 points in the nine point, 59-50 Hobgood win.  The Eagles were seeking their second Tarheel Independent Conference win of the season.

Kierstyn Polson dropped 21 points on Terra Ceia, but the Lady Knights claimed the win, 45-36.  Summer Warmack added five, four for Haley Jilcott and three for Carson Johnson.  Haley Jilcott had two points and one for Addie Piper.   Because Hobgood didn’t field a varsity girls team, the Eagles avoided their 10th loss of the season.

Northeast is winless in the TIC at 0-5.  They will face Pungo on the road Thursday (tonight).
