McCain – Morris exchange vows

NAGS HEAD – Hunter Ann McCain and Michael David Morris were married at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head. Wedding officiant, Mrs. Lisa Baker, cousin of the bride, performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dacus Pierce McCain, III of Nashville. Grandparents of the bride are the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick B. Pendleton of New Bern and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dacus P. McCain, Jr. of Nashville.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lewis Morris of Woodland. Grandparents of the groom are the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis B. Morris of Gaston Lake and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. McCall or Clarksville, Tennessee.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.

Carrie Sammons of Nashville, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor.

GG Slauzis of Greenville, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Taylor Morris of Windsor, daughter of the groom, Virginia Talbert of Myrtle Beach, SC, cousin of the bride, Gray Jackson of Nashville, friend of the bride, Chelsea Sweet of St. Petersburg, Fla., Patricia Ross Sudler of Clayton and Megan Poe Hall of Raleigh, all sorority sisters of the bride.

Molly Gray Jackson of Nashville, friend of the bride, served as flower girl.

Edward Lewis Morris of Woodland, father of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Ricky Morris of Woodland, brother of the groom, James McDermott, Bryan Asycue of Woodland and Craig Slauzis of Greenville, friends of the groom.

Reagan Lynn Leggett of Windsor, granddaughter of the groom served as special attendant.

Wedding ceremony musicians were Ed and Beth Credle of Nashville, friends of the bride’s parents.

A reception with dinner and dancing was held at the Oceanview Room, Jennette’s Pier, following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents. Music was provided by “The Embers featuring Craig Woolard.”

Following a wedding trip to St. Lucia, West Indies, the couple will continue living in Greenville.

The bride graduated from Northern Nash High School. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Services from East Carolina University where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and a Master’s of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Winston-Salem State University. She is employed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation in Greenville and Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

The groom graduated from Northampton East High School and attended Roanoke-Chowan Community College. He is employed by Food Lion in Greenville.

On October 12, 2015, an engagement party was hosted by the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.P. McCain, III, along with Mr. and Mrs. David Farris and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Daughtridge at the home of the Daughtridges.

On February 20, 2016, a bridal shower was hosted by Mrs. Gray Jackson, Mrs. Lou Carson and Miss Carrie Sammons at the Jackson home in Nashville.

On February 27, 2016, a wedding BBQ was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Morris at the Woodland Fire Dept.

On March 4, 2016, a bridal shower was hosted by the bride’s co-workers at Vocational Rehabilitation in Greenville.

On March 18, 2016, a bride’s bachelorette weekend was hosted by the bride’s attendants at Myrtle Beach, SC.

On April 15, 2016, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was hosted by friends of the bride’s mother at Basnight’s Lone Cedar Cafe.

On April 15, 2016, an “I Do BBQ” following the wedding rehearsal was hosted by the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Morris, and the bride’s aunts and uncles: Mr. and Mrs. Rick Pendleton, Mr. and Mrs. Hartley Bland, Mrs. Sheryl C. Pendleton, and Charles M. Toler.
