WOODLAND – James Eldridge Lee, affectionately known as “Kitty Lee” age 99, died peacefully on May 6, 2016 at the Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi, NC.

He was born on December 31, 1916 to the late John and Blanche Whitley Lee of Woodland, NC. He was married to Kathryn Perry Lee in 1941 and they enjoyed fifty-five years of marriage.

Mr. Lee owned and operated Lee Motor Company in George, NC for many years until retirement. He was a lifelong member of Woodland Baptist Church and was a great servant to the church. Mr. Lee was a fireman for the Woodland Fire Department and was instrumental in getting the first fire truck for Woodland.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Whitley Lee; father, John William Lee; wife, Kathryn Perry Lee; three sisters, Sarah Lee Liverman, Elsie Lee Whitley and Frances Lee Rimmer; and two brothers, Meredith Lee and Edward Lee.

Mr. Lee is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 1:00-1:45 pm at the fellowship hall of the Woodland Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service following at 2 pm with Rev. Lamar Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
