COLERAIN, NC – Clara Casper Hughes, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2016, at her home.

Mrs. Hughes was born in Colerain, Bertie County, NC, on June 30, 1913, a daughter of the late Eddie Ernest and Rosa Perry Casper. She was a longtime member of Colerain Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Besides her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman Melvin Hughes; her sisters, Virginia Hughes, and Rosa Lie Harrell; and her brother, Foy Casper.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Julia A. Hughes of Colerain, NC, and Sandra H. Davis of Scotland Neck, NC; her grandson, Henry T. Davis, III and wife, Trista, of Kinston, NC; and her great grandson, Corben Davis.

The family will receive friends at the home at any time.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 2:00 pm at the Colerain Baptist Church, Colerain, NC, with Rev. Gary Saffell officiating. A private interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
