Pedestrian killed on Cooper Hill Road

WINDSOR – A Windsor man was killed here late Monday evening, the result of a pedestrian fatality after a collision with a motor vehicle.

According to Town of Windsor Police Chief Todd Lane, Kevin L. Sanderlin, 27, was struck by a car at 6:55 p.m. Monday as he walked along Cooper Hill Road (NC 308) just inside the Windsor town limits.

Lane said the vehicle, a 1999 Pontiac, was traveling east on NC 308 and operated by Michael Anthony Larue, 22, of South King Street, Windsor. According to the police investigation report, Larue stopped immediately following the accident and tried to render aid and assistance to the victim before Emergency Medical personnel arrived, but Sanderlin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sanderlin resided on Cooper Hill Road.

According to the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, the Pontiac driven by Larue is registered to Tammy L. Rhea of 1104 S. King Street, Windsor. The vehicle sustained approximately $3,500 in damages in the collision.

Chief Lane says the investigation into the accident is still ongoing and that no charges have been filed.
