Jean H. Ricks

CONWAY – Jean Hill Ricks, 85, a native of Hertford County, died peacefully December 31, 2015 at Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Jean was the youngest of her seven siblings and their last living member. She was the “peacemaker” of her family and was devoted to them. She was a member of Conway Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, a Deacon, in the Women’s Missionary Union, the Hand Bell Choir, and she sang in the Choir. Jean was also a member of the Pine Forest Auxiliary Board and the Albemarle Regional Library Board. She loved to play Dominoes and was a serious player, often times winning the game.

She had been preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lawrence Woodard Ricks; parents, James Wells Hill, Sr. and Lucille Boyette Hill; four brothers, two sisters; and son-in-law, Robert E. Taylor Jr.

Survivors include daughter, Wanda Taylor Guest and husband, Tim, of Conway; son, Keith Hill Ricks and wife, Bettie Ann of Conway; and daughter, Carole Ricks Pendleton and husband, Clay, of Lincolnton, NC; grandchildren, Robbie Taylor and wife, Jenni, Emily Jenkins and husband, Jason, Tracy Sykes and husband, Mack, William Whitley, Jr. and wife, Sheryll, Suzanne Amigo and husband, Lou, Lauren Pendleton, Spencer Pendleton, and Caroline Pendleton; and great grandchildren, Preston and Peyton Taylor, Taylor Jenkins, Cameron and Rebecca Sykes, Jordan and Wyatt Whitley, and Alex and Stephen Amigo.

A Visitation for Mrs. Ricks was held Friday, January 1, 2016 at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc, in Conway and her funeral service was conducted Saturday, January 2, at Conway Baptist Church with Rev. Willie McLawhorn presiding and assisted by Rev. James Hester and Rev. Robert Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be shared with Conway Baptist Church, Pine Forest Auxiliary Board, the Albemarle Regional Library Board, or to a charity of ones choice.
