MURFREESBORO – Mr. Edward Thomas Warren, age 69, died peacefully at his home in of Middlesex, NC on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He was born on December 22, 1945 to Emitt and Cornelia Warren of Murfreesboro, NC.

Edward was a lifelong member of the Meherrin Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, NC.

Edward graduated from Murfreesboro High School in 1965 where he played football. Following high school graduation, he joined the US Army where he served for two years; the last year of which he served in Vietnam. He was a disabled American Veteran.

Edward received an associate degree in Business Administration from Roanoke Chowan Community College. He retired as a meat cutter from Lowes’ Foods in 2004 following thirty-six years of service and dedication to the grocery industry. He joined the Murfreesboro Lions Club in 1984 and served for over twenty-five years.

He was preceded in death by mother, Cornelia Davis Warren; father, Emitt Warren; sister, Betty Warren; and brother Clyde Warren.

Edward is survived by his wife Judith Warren of Middlesex, NC; four daughters, Renee` W. Jilcott and her husband Richard of Murfreesboro, NC, Tammy W. Bowen and her husband Josh of Unionville, VA, Margaret W. Hill of Beaufort, NC, and Kelly W. Lockhart and her husband Tommy of Newport, NC; stepdaughter, Michelle Mace of Conway, NC; three stepsons, Jason Hill of Danville, VA, Jody Soper and his wife Vickie of Woodland, NC, and Billy Soper of Middlesex, NC; three granddaughters, Tara Jilcott of Murfreesboro, NC, Mindy Teauge and her husband Robert of Jacksonville, NC, and Alex Nicole Hill of Beaufort, NC; two grandsons, Ricky Jilcott of Murfreesboro, NC, and Christopher Best of Newport, NC; four step granddaughters, Lisa Vega and her husband Joel of Jacksonville, NC, Kayla Worrell of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Alexis Soper of Woodland, NC, and Ashlyn Soper of Woodland, NC; three step grandsons, Earl Mace of Las Vegas, NV, Corey Soper of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Austin Hill of Middlesex, NC; three sister-in-laws, Amrit Warren of Murfreesboro, NC, Carolyn Taylor Hobirk of Jacksonville, FL and Susan Sheffield and her husband Jack of Jacksonville, FL; and a brother-in-law; John Mashburn of Palm Coast, FL. Also surviving are nine great grandchildren that call him PawPaw!

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 7:00-8:30 pm at the Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro, NC and at other times at the home of Richard and Renee’ Jilcott.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 2 pm at the Meherrin Baptist Church in Murfreesboro with the interment following at Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Joshua Parson.
