Rachel H. Ayers

COLERAIN, NC – Rachel Harden Ayers, age 93, of Bethany Church Rd., Colerain, died on November 3, 2015 at Vidant Bertie Hospital, Windsor, NC.

Mrs. Ayers was born in Bertie County on September 19, 1922, a daughter of the late Dennis and Lillie Pierce Harden. Rachel was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church and was retired as a seamstress for Kelwood Manufacturing.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Perry, and husband, William Elmer Ayers; and a brother, Ernest Cola Harden

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kathryn Perry Hughson and husband, Keith; and her son, Walter B. Perry, Jr. and wife, Cecelia Ann all of Colerain, NC. Also surviving are five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie, and other times at the home of her daughter, Kathryn and Keith Hughson.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain, NC, with the Rev. Tommy Tripp officiating.  Memorial donations may be made to the Perrytown Fire Department, 850 Perrytown Rd., Colerain, NC, 27924.
