AULANDER – Alice L. White, 91, a native of Bertie County, died peacefully on October 21, 2015 at Edenton Primetime in Edenton. She was born to Gurnie Lee and Mary Alice Bazemore Lassiter on December 18, 1923. She was the widow of the late C. W. White, Jr.

Mrs. White worked for more than thirty years at Feld’s Fine Apparels in Ahoskie, NC. She had been a member of Aulander Baptist Church for eighty years, active in the past in the Adult Choir and WMU and as a leader of the church’s Prayer Link. She also had been a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Aulander Rescue Squad.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Joyner Banks; grandson, Jeff Joyner; son-in-law, Randy Britton; granddaughter-in-law; Kim Britton; sisters, Edna Jenkins, Joyce Harrison, Vashti Miko; and, brother, Jack Lassiter.

Mrs. White is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne Britton Croom and husband, Jesse, of Edenton; grandchildren, Tim and Angie Britton of Greenville, Joye and Brian Keith of Raleigh; Malinda and David Schantz of Raleigh, Michelle Britton and Mary Friedrichs of Wilmington; Cara Lynn and Jamie Vogel of Raleigh, Andrea Croom of Raleigh, and Kevin and Missy Croom of Aulander; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her roommate at Primetime, Susan Weeks.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Home Chapel in Ahoskie, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jesse J. Croom. A private family burial at Aulander Cemetery will precede the service.

The family will receive friends at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Home on Friday evening, October 23, 2015, from seven to eight-thirty and following the service on Saturday.
