MILWAUKEE – Jerry Dean Askew, 78, died September 21, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was a native of Northampton County and a retired farmer and was co-owner of Ralph C. Askew & Son Peanut Buying & Farm Supply. Also, he was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Milwaukee Lions Club. An avid fisherman, he loved to travel and to spend time with his family at their beach cottage.

Mr. Askew had been preceded in death by his father and mother, Ralph C. Askew and Ella Reese Martin Askew; and a loving uncle and aunt, Henry and Eula Johnson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Liverman Askew of their home; children, Julie Martin and husband, Steve, of Milwaukee; Jerri Lynn Askew of Ahoskie; and son, Jeff Askew of Kill Devil Hills; two granddaughters, Jessie Lynn Martin of Milwaukee and Rachel Martin of Alabama; step-mother, Levenia Askew of Milwaukee; two loving grand – dogs, Coquina and Bella; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A graveside service for Mr. Askew will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24 in the Milwaukee Cemetery with the Rev. Susan Harrison presiding.  The family will be receiving friends at their home in Milwaukee and have requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift, please do so to the Milwaukee Cemetery Fund, c/o Stevie Bridgers, 675 Doolittle Mill Road, Conway, NC 27820.
